How to Get Started

Register for an Account
You will need an account to use Mendeley. You can use any email address to register.
Download Mendeley Reference Manager
Use the Mendeley Reference Manager to build and organize your collection of references and documents, which you can sync with the web and mobile versions. Drag & drop PDF files into the Reference Maager to instantly create references. Annotate PDFs with highlights and sticky notes as you read them.
Install the Mendeley Web Importer
Adding the Web Importer to your favorite web browser makes it easy to import references and documents from academic databases. (Note: Chrome users can install the bookmarklet, not the browser extension, for greater functionality)
Install the Citation Plugin
Seamlessly insert references and bibliographies into your document using our citation add-in. Mendeley Cite is compatible with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Word versions 2016 and above and with the Microsoft Word app for iPad®. If you are using an earlier version of Word, you can use the existing Mendeley Citation Plugin for Word available with Mendeley Desktop.

Sync accounts on all devices through your Mendeley web-based account. Your web library is identical to your Mendeley Reference Manager desktop application and serves as a reading, annotation, and note taking platform on its own.
