Welcome to the First Year Writing Research Guide! This website is designed to get you started with researching for your FYW class.

Using this guide:

Get started by clicking on the Brainstorming tab. There, you'll find information on how to come up with different keywords for your research. Then, head over to the Finding Sources tab for a breakdown on what databases you should try. Finish up with the Citations tab for everything you need to cite correctly. Need help, or have a question that isn't answered on this guide? Check out the Research Help tab for information on how to ask a Belmont librarian for help! Librarians loves helping students with research, so don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it!

Research is Never Straightforward!

Research is never a straightforward process! Instead of think of research as a point a to point b process - try to think of it as a messy exploration of a topic, kind of like the line below.
