Staying current in your field, or with your specific topic, can be achieved in several ways. You can get notifications directly from the journals that are prominent in your field, you can get notifications from the library's resources about new content available from specific journals, or you can save searches and get alerts when new content has been added. This page will help you set up search alerts and journal alerts in the library's resources.
Search alerts help you know when new resources are available based on a specific search that you've saved. Many of the library's resources allow you to save your search and receive search alerts. Most of them do require that you create an account with them instead of using your Belmont credentials. Use the navigation on the left to learn about different ways to set up a search alert through many of the library's resources. If you have questions, please contact Courtney Fuson or Brittany Mountford for assistance.
Journal alerts allow you to receive a notification whenever new contents are published in a specific journal. This can be done in several different ways. You can use the library's resources to be alerted to things that we have access to, but you can also go directly to a journal's website and look for TOC Alert or something similar to receive that information from them directly. You could then search the library's OneSearch or use Interlibrary Loan to get access to the article. If you use the library's resources to receive alerts, you should also receive a link to the full text (if it's available).
Many publishers have placed an embargo (of varying lengths) on what is available via library resources, so Interlibrary Loan may be the best option, no matter what you use to get new content alerts. Use the navigation to the left to learn more about setting up these alerts in various library resources.
