Using Bunch Library - Fall 2020

Bunch Library resources and services have shifted as a result of COVID-19. This guide will help you understand our current policies and procedures.

What to expect when visiting Bunch Library

In determining reopening procedures for the physical library space, Bunch Library faculty and staff have carefully considered precautions recommended by health organizations and professional library associations, as well as policies set forth by Belmont University and the city of Nashville.

As a result, the following efforts will be enacted across the physical Bunch Library space:

Building Access

Belmont students, faculty, and staff must use their Belmont IDs to access the building using the card swipe. Guests will not have access during the fall semester. The GIG and Hart galleries will only be accessible to Belmont students, faculty, and staff upon request.

Library Mask Policy

Masks must be worn at all times when in the library building. Library faculty and staff must wears masks unless in their own offices. Masks are available at the Information Desk.

Social Distancing

Please keep 6 feet apart from others when using Bunch Library. Some chairs and tables have been removed or re-arranged in order to maintain social distancing. Look for signage and markings throughout the building in high-traffic areas, such as near the Information Desk, printers, or rest rooms.

Eating & Drinking Policy

Snack foods only are permissible in the atriums. No food is permitted in any of the interior library spaces. Drinks can be consumed anywhere in the building.

Circulation of Physical Materials

Upon return, materials will be placed in quarantine for 72 hours. We encourage touchless check-out of materials using the self-check-out station on the first floor. See the Placing a Request/Hold tab for more information on requesting materials to be pulled.

Research Help

Research help will be offered through the online chat service or by virtual appointment. Students will not be able to walk in and request to meet with a librarian in person.

Bunch Library Faculty & Staff

All Bunch Library faculty, staff, and student workers will be required to undergo a health screening before beginning work each day. Employees will also wear masks outside of their individual work spaces, consistent with Belmont policy.

Increased Cleaning & Sanitizing

High touch surfaces will be wiped down at the beginning and end of each day. Hand sanitizer will be placed near the Information Desk, printers, computer workstations, self-checkout station, vending machines, and the building entrance.

Group Study Rooms

Study rooms and the Practice Presentation Room will be open but capacity is limited to 2 people and masks are required.

Library Computers, Scanner, and Printing

Computers, scanners, and printers are available for use and have been distanced apart at least 6 feet. Hand sanitizer will be placed near machines.

Monitoring Capacity

Capacity for the library is 250 people. An hourly headcount will be done to monitor capacity, and staff will be placed at the entrance when capacity nears. Students may be asked to wait or return when space becomes available.
